The Doctoral Program in Agrifood Sciences corresponds to an academic program whose emphasis is placed on research and the construction of knowledge in the area of agrifood systems. This program is taught by the Faculty of Agronomic and Food Sciences made up of the School of Agronomy and the School of Food of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso.
There is a great need for advanced human capital in the field of agri-food systems. This doctorate is presented as an alternative to generate a positive and notorious impact with respect to the offer of continuing education at a regional, national and international level. The scientific nature of the program, with research aimed at the scientific resolution of agro-industrial problems, precisely seeks to enhance interaction with the agri-food industry.
It has been defined that this doctoral program should be a tool for innovation in the areas of agronomic and food sciences. Considering that this program is based at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, its contents are completely consistent with the development vision of the Valparaíso Region and the country, which has determined that one of its three priority areas of development corresponds to the agri-food sector. In this way, the program establishes a clear commitment to the economic and social growth of the region and the country.
